Job summary

TRACKLINE is seeking a Steel Structures Inspector to verify welding, steel fabrication, and vessel construction for government builds. You will witness inspections, review drawings, and coordinate with ABS/USCG.

The role emphasizes safety, documentation, and timely reporting to the Chief Inspector while ensuring strict contract compliance. Strong candidates will have extensive shipbuilding experience, knowledge of welding practices, and the ability to read complex drawings.

Qualifications

• At least five years of related experience in new-construction shipbuilding.
• Strong knowledge of shipbuilding practices, steel fabrication, welding techniques, production methods, and construction planning.
• Experience with USCG and/or marine classification societies.
• Ability to read and interpret ship construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple inspection priorities.

Responsibilities

• Promote and follow shipyard safety policies and procedures.
• Witness inspections and tests to verify contract compliance.
• Coordinate with ABS, USCG, and other stakeholders.
• Inspect steel fabrication, welding, and dimensional accuracy.
• Prepare inspection reports, records, and photos.
• Monitor construction progress against the schedule.
• Assist in resolving technical, fabrication, and quality issues.
• Provide regular progress updates to the Chief Inspector.
