Job summary

Mainstay Maritime in the United States seeks an experienced Welder and/or QA/QC Manager to lead QA/QC at our shipyard, ensuring repairs meet standards and client specs. You will drive QA/QC processes, oversee inspections, and coordinate with production, engineering, safety, and regulatory teams.

The role emphasizes NDT awareness, documentation review, training, and continuous improvement. Based in a shipyard with both office and field work; certification support provided by the company.

Qualifications

• Quality mgmt or related field or equivalent experience.
• Experience in QA/QC in shipbuilding or heavy industry.
• Strong understanding of NDT methods (VT/MT/PT/UT/RT).
• Excellent communication, organizational and leadership skills.
• Proficient in quality mgmt software and MS Office.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specs.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain shipyard’s Quality Management System in accordance with ABS, USCG and other applicable standards
• Conduct regular inspections, audits, and tests on materials, welding, structural components, piping, and other vessel structural systems
• Review and approve quality documentation
• Interface with clients, class, and customer representatives to coordinate inspections and resolve quality concerns
• Investigate and document non-conformities, root causes, and corrective/preventative actions
• Provide training and support to production teams to promote a quality-focused culture
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other HSE standards as related to quality processes
• Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying trends and recommending process improvements
• Compile/Maintain library of training certificates, welders’ qualification, and other qualifications
• Execute inspections according to QA/QC plan in accordance with required inspection procedures. Work with Project Manager on documentation and other requirements
