Job summary

Qualifications

• Preferred scaffold building experience.
• Must read a tape measure and operate power tools.
• Must work in confined spaces and move around ship safely.
• Must pass scaffold building and chain saw tests administered by NASSCO.
• Must follow roping and tying procedures.
• Must work at heights and be available for all shifts.
• Must comprehend written and verbal instructions and hear warning signals.

Responsibilities

• Clean tanks/vessels in confined spaces and perform general shipyard cleaning
• Build and dismantle scaffolds and other wooden structures
• Build and dismantle safety handrails and other equipment
• Sort, inspect and stack lumber and metal scaffold components
• Assist other trades in sea trials and ship launchings
• Move furniture and other equipment
