Job summary

General Dynamics NASSCO in San Diego, CA is seeking a Pipe Welder skilled in multiple welding techniques to join shell plating and structural assemblies per specifications.

The role includes site setup, tacking, pipe welding, and maintaining safety and housekeeping in a busy shipyard, with exposure to fumes and varying conditions. Candidates must have 3+ years of welding experience and pass the 6G pipe test using FCAW and GTAW.

Qualifications

• 3+ years welding experience in SMAW, flux-core, TIG and air arc.
• Must pass 6G pipe test (FCAW and GTAW).
• Certification to operate high-reaching equipment required.
• Fluent in English; able to read and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Set up welding equipment and supplies at the job site.
• Perform cutting and burning on pipes as required.
• Execute tacking and welding on pipes per procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety in the work area.
• Comply with safety, quality, and process improvement meetings.
