Job summary

General Dynamics NASSCO seeks a Safety Representative to guide health and safety programs and ensure compliance with OSHA and local regulations. You will report to the Supervisor of Safety and collaborate with Production, Repair, Maintenance, Medical and Emergency Response teams.

The role emphasizes inspections, training, incident investigations, and safety communications across shipyard operations. Experience in industrial safety and ability to access military bases is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Continuing education towards a Professional Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Assist in safety duties and, under supervision, perform professional health and safety work of average difficulty.
• Conduct daily inspections to ensure compliance with regulations and policies; identify hazards and initiate corrective actions.
• Prepare written inspection reports, accident investigations, and safety articles for training.
• Conduct safety training classes and subcontractor orientations.
