Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or 5 years maritime experience.
• At least 1 year of rigging experience in a shipyard or similar environment.
• Must participate in on-the-job training for less experienced coworkers.
• Thorough knowledge of equipment used in rigging operations, including lifting and moving gear.
• Knowledge of shipyard terminology and vessel layout.
• Knowledge of USA standard hand signals.
• Ability to perform basic math and use metric measurements.
• Completion of Austal USA Overhead Crane/Rigging training (written and practical).
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and present information clearly.

Responsibilities

• Must be technically proficient in rigging tasks and safe use of rigging equipment.
• Accountable for completing daily work assignments with signatures.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization on assigned job sites.
• Select and utilize proper lifting gear.
• Set up crane hoisting equipment.
• Be prepared to work any assigned shift.
• May take on tasks outside normal craft assignments.
• Monitor job sites for quality, safety, and environmental health regulations.
