Job summary

Austal USA is seeking a skilled rigger to support crane and rigging operations on shipyards and vessels. You will set up hoisting equipment, select appropriate lifting gear, and ensure tasks meet quality and safety standards.

Requirements include a high school diploma or 5 years of maritime experience and at least 1 year in rigging within a shipyard or similar setting. Candidates must pass Austal USA training and standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or 5 years maritime experience.
• 1 year minimum rigging experience in shipyard or similar industry.
• Willing to participate in on-the-job training for less experienced coworkers.
• Thorough knowledge of equipment used in rigging operations incl. lifting and moving gear.
• Knowledge of shipyard terminology and vessel layout.
• Knowledge of USA standard hand signals.

Responsibilities

• Set up crane hoisting equipment and operate safely.
• Complete daily work assignments with signatures for quality.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization on assigned job sites.
• Select and utilize proper lifting gear for tasks.
• Monitor job site for safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
• Be able to work any assigned shift and handle ad-hoc tasks.
