Job summary

Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of HII, seeks a skilled assembler to lay out, fit, align, and assemble prefabricated components prior to welding. You will perform finishing operations to tight tolerances and monitor quality per process controls.

Requires a High School diploma with 5 years related experience or an Apprentice/Associate's degree with 3 years related experience. This full-time role offers comprehensive benefits and opportunities to contribute to naval shipbuilding excellence.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and 5 years related experience.
• Apprentice graduate/ Associate's Degree in relevant discipline and 3 years related experience.

Responsibilities

• Lays out, fits, aligns, and assembles prefabricated cast and forged components prior to welding.
• Performs fitting and machining operations to close tolerances (straighten, grind, burr, drill, ream, countersink).
• Selects equipment and lays out materials to be welded per instructions.
• May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process control procedures.
