Job summary

Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. is seeking a heavy equipment operator to support the construction, maintenance and repair of marine vessels in our shipyard.

The role requires operating various heavy equipment, performing pre-operational checks and ensuring safety protocols are followed. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and 1–3 years of experience with heavy equipment, plus a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus 1–3 years' experience operating a variety of heavy equipment.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Ability to read and understand load charts.
• Ability to perform physical tasks and operate safely in a heavy industrial shipyard environment.
• Knowledge of ship terminology and OSHA standards.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of heavy equipment used in construction, maintenance and repair of marine vessels and shipyard facilities.
• Perform pre-operational checks on equipment and notify management of maintenance needs.
• Follow safety and security standards and use appropriate PPE.
• Work with hand signals and at times with minimal supervision.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
