The Manufacturing Automation Engineer will drive automation across Port Alpha's shipyard processes, from plate cutting to testing, aligning with central automation teams.
The role is part of Shipyard Optimization (Robotics & Autonomous Build) and demands strong DFMA/DFA thinking, vendor management, and hands-on project leadership, with a path to sustainment by Port
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, Mechatronics or Robotics.
- 5+ years in manufacturing automation or process engineering.
- Experience with automated systems in high-volume heavy fabrication.
- Strong knowledge of robotics, PLCs, HMIs, sensors, pneumatics, servos, vision.
Responsibilities
- Identify operations suitable for automation focusing on safety, quality and throughput.
- Develop roadmaps and business cases to scale production.
- Lead automation projects from concept to commissioning and launch.
- Coordinate with vendors, integrators, MES, quality, and production controls.
- Train teams and hand off to Manufacturing Engineering for sustaining support.
- Drive improvements in OEE, yield, uptime and cycle time.
