Job summary

Pelican Products in South Deerfield, MA is hiring for a Shipper I on the 1st shift. You will prepare, package, and load outgoing shipments, weigh and verify items, and operate internal systems to track status.

A 1–2 year shipping background and basic computer skills are expected; forklift certification is preferred and can be earned during the trial period. The role is onsite with a Monday–Friday schedule (6am–2:30pm ET).

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of shipping experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience preparing, packaging, and loading products for shipment.
• Ability to accurately count, weigh, label, and verify outgoing materials.
• Basic computer skills and comfort using internal systems to track products and maintain shipping records.
• Forklift experience preferred; must be able to obtain Pelican forklift certification during the initial trial period.

Responsibilities

• Prepare outgoing products and materials for shipment according to established shipping procedures and work instructions.
• Count, weigh, and verify outgoing shipments to ensure orders are accurate before they leave the facility.
• Identify and report shortages, damaged products, or other shipment concerns.
• Package, strap, weigh, and label products for safe and accurate shipment.
• Load trucks and containers using floor-loading methods or a forklift based on shipment requirements.
• Operate internal computer systems to check product status, track shipments, and maintain accurate records.
• Work from purchase orders, computer-generated information, shipping procedures, and written or verbal instructions.
• Maintain daily shipping, production, and material movement records as required.
• Identify and report faulty equipment, damaged materials, or unsafe conditions to the appropriate supervisor.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shipping and warehouse area.
• Follow all established safety procedures and Pelican quality standards.
