Job summary

Workforce Strategies, Incorporated in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a Shipping Assistant and Skid Builder. You’ll check in materials at the receiving door, operate a forklift, measure and assemble pallets, wrap finished goods, and coordinate with carrier websites.

The role backs up the Shipping Coordinator, involves lifting, walking, and staying organized. Opportunity to grow into more responsibility with a stable team.

Qualifications

• Willingness to get forklift certified (prior experience not required).
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds and push/pull heavier loads with assistance, using safe practices.
• Able to read a tape measure and do basic measurement math.
• Comfortable around power tools such as table saws and circular saws.
• Attention to detail and accurate counts.
• Able to learn Excel, Outlook, Word, and carrier shipping websites.
• Reliable attendance for the full scheduled shift.
• Must be able to speak, read, and write basic English.

Responsibilities

• Check in materials at receiving, get them to the right spot (often using a forklift).
• Build pallets and crates in various sizes using table and circular saws.
• Wrap finished goods, crate, and stage for pickup.
• Process parcels through carrier websites and ensure counts are accurate.
• Restock packing supplies and tidy the workspace for the next build.
• Back up the Shipping Coordinator throughout the day; expect walking, lifting, and shifting gears.
