• Able to learn Excel, Outlook, Word, and carrier shipping websites.
• Reliable attendance for the full scheduled shift.
• Must be able to speak, read, and write basic English.

Responsibilities

• Check in materials at receiving, get them to the right spot (often using a forklift).
• Build pallets and crates in various sizes using table and circular saws.
• Wrap finished goods, crate, and stage for pickup.
• Process parcels through carrier websites and ensure counts are accurate.
• Restock packing supplies and tidy the workspace for the next build.
• Back up the Shipping Coordinator throughout the day; expect walking, lifting, and shifting gears.

Wood, a tape measure, and a forklift. That’s most of the job, and most people end up liking it more than they expected. This Shipping Assistant and Skid Builder role in Grand Rapids is for someone who enjoys building something useful, seeing it leave the building, and knowing it was done right.

The employer is a Grand Rapids area manufacturer that makes finished textile goods for commercial and residential customers. It’s a working production facility with its own shipping department, a steady rhythm, and a crew that expects things to be packed properly because the product deserves it.

Mornings start at the receiving door, where you check in materials and parcels and get them to the right spot, often on a forklift. Then you head to the build area to measure, cut, and assemble pallets and crates in all sizes with table saws and circular saws. Finished rolled goods get wrapped, crated, and staged for pickup. In between, you process parcels through carrier websites, keep the finished goods count honest, restock packing supplies, and tidy your station so the next build goes smoothly. You back up the Shipping Coordinator all day, so there’s plenty of walking, lifting, and switching gears. Most days end with a clear dock and a good feeling about it.

What We Offer

• Pay: $19.25 per hour
• Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 7:00am to 5:30pm; Friday, 7:00am to 4:00pm
