Job summary

Valmont Industries, Inc. in Valley, NE is seeking a Shipping/Receiving Material Handler 1 to unload, store, and inspect incoming loads and galvanized products.

You will operate forklifts and shag trucks up to 22,000 lbs, read shipping papers, and tag materials for unloading, with accuracy and safety. You will stand outdoors 90% of the shift in varying weather, ensure quality, and collaborate with the Lead or Supervisor on special handling while entering data into the computer.

Qualifications

• No degree; 0–1 years relevant experience.
• Ability to operate forklifts and overhead cranes.
• Ability to inspect to ensure that products meet quality standards.
• Ability to bundle, crate, box, and wrap products to be shipped.
• Ability to load a truck.
• Ability to lift up to 20 pounds frequently throughout a shift.

Responsibilities

• Operate shag truck and forklifts with capacity to move up to 22,000 lbs.
• Communicate potential problems or needs with material to Lead/Supervisor.
• Inspect incoming material for proper venting and hanging.
• Inspect galvanized material to meet quality standards and coordinate special handling.
• Read tags, bills of lading, and shipping/receiving papers.
• Create tags with details for incoming products.
• Move steel and other material up to 50 pounds by hand.
• Operate small hand tools (tape measures, micrometers, etc.).
• May perform tasks outside shipping to support galvanizing process.
