Openwork is hiring a Shipping Receiving & Logistics Coordinator in Houston, TX. You will manage the day-to-day flow of materials, coordinate inbound and outbound freight, and oversee shipping and receiving activities to ensure accuracy and on-time delivery.

• Coordinate LTL, truckload, parcel, and expedited shipments.
• Track shipments and address delivery issues.
• Maintain shipping docs and transportation records.
• Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment.
• Record ERP transactions for receipts, shipments, transfers.

Now Hiring: Shipping Receiving & Logistics Coordinator

Schedule: 7:00am - 3:30pm

Pay: $22.00- $24.00/hour

Location: Houston, TX 77064

Position Purpose:

The Shipping Receiving & Logistics Coordinator is responsible for managing the day-to-day flow of materials and products into and out of the facility. This role coordinates inbound and outbound freight, oversees shipping and receiving activities, maintains accurate material transactions within the ERP system, and serves as the primary point of contact for carriers, freight providers, and internaldepartments.

This position requires a hands‑on individual who can operate independently, prioritize multiple activities, and ensure materials are received, stored, and shipped accurately and on time. While this role does not directly supervise employees, it is expected to take ownership of dock operations and coordinate logistics activities with confidence.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Coordinate and execute all shipping and receiving activities.
• Receive incoming materials and verify accuracy against purchase orders, packing slips, and shipping documents.
• Inspect incoming shipments for damage or discrepancies and coordinate resolution as needed.
• Prepare outbound shipments, including packaging, labeling, shipment documentation, and carrier scheduling.
• Schedule and coordinate inbound and outbound freight with carriers, brokers, suppliers, and customers.
• Obtain freight quotes and select transportation providers based on cost, service, and delivery requirements
• Coordinate LTL, truckload, parcel, and expedited shipments.
• Track shipments and proactively address delivery issues or delays.
• Ensure shipping documentation and transportation records are accurate and complete.
• Load and unload materials using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.
• Perform ERP transactions related to receipts, shipments, transfers, and material movements.
• Support cycle counting and physical inventory activities.
• Assist with investigating inventory discrepancies and transaction errors.
• Issue materials to production and other departments as required.
• Maintain an organized, efficient, and safe shipping and receiving area.
• Maintain compliance with company policies, safety requirements, and warehouse procedures.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to warehouse, logistics, and material flow processes.

What We're Looking For:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Working knowledge of ERP systems and inventory transactions. Epicor experiences a plus
• Proficiency and comfort using computers with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Outlook.
• Ability to safely drive and operate a forklift
• Ability to communicate professionally via email, phone, and in person with carriers, suppliers, customers, and internal partners, positively representing the company.
• Ability to support overtime requests to support production / carrier / or customer needs.
• Forklift experience and ability to become certified.
• Experience in a small-to-medium manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of domestic freight, LTL, truckload, and parcel shipping processes.
• 3-5 years of experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse operations, logistics, or materials management within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience coordinating freight carriers and transportation providers.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
• Ability to interpret and analyze data to make quick decisions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Work is performed primarily in a manufacturing and warehouse environment that is not climate controlled.
• Frequent interaction with trucks, freight carriers, and material handling equipment.
• Noise levels may require participation in a hearing conservation program.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the workday.
• Ability to regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to work overtime as business needs require.
