Job summary

Precision Castparts Corp. in Groton, CT is seeking a Shipping Clerk responsible for shipping, receiving and inventory control of materials and finished goods.

You will ensure accurate documentation, timely processing and coordination with vendors, carriers, and internal teams while maintaining quality and safety standards. Key tasks include inspecting incoming shipments, packing and shipping, maintaining inventory, and coordinating carrier pickups.

Qualifications

  • Experience in shipping/receiving, warehouse, or logistics preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office).
  • Forklift experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of export/ITAR regulations is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments against PO and documentation.
  • Prepare, pack, and ship outgoing materials with required paperwork.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and track material locations.
  • Coordinate carrier pickups, track shipments, and support customer inquiries.
  • Manage vendor communication, purchase orders, and shipment status for outside vendors.
  • Identify and report damages, shortages, or discrepancies.
  • Support material handling operations, including loading/unloading.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, HAZCOM, and shipping regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including packaging supplies.

  • Prepare, pack, and ship outgoing materials, including all required paperwork

  • Maintain accurate inventory records and track material locations

  • Coordinate carrier pickups, track shipments, and support customer inquiries

  • Manage vendor communication, purchase orders, and shipment status for outside vendors

  • Identify and report damages, shortages, or discrepancies

  • Support material handling operations, including loading/unloading and transport

  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, HAZCOM, and shipping regulations

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including packaging supplies
