Responsibilities include counting, weighing, determining shipping methods, labeling, moving items, and ensuring accuracy against bills of lading. The role requires a High School Diploma, manufacturing experience, and a strong attention to detail.

• Posts weights and shipping charges and handles hazardous waste disposal per policy.
• Operates lift truck or hand truck to move shipments to storage or work area.
• Maintains inventory of shipping materials and ensures accuracy of outgoing shipments.
• Unpacks, inspects, and coordinates with shippers to rectify damages or shortages.
• Ensures outgoing shipments meet specifications and documents all records.
• Performs safety-related tasks and adheres to plant safety guidelines.
• Reconciles shipments with bills of lading, invoices, or orders.

Summary

The Shipping & Receiving Clerk verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties.

Responsibilities

• Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
• Determines method of shipment.
• Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons.
• Inserts items into containers.
• Nails covers on wooden crates and binds containers with metal tape.
• Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
• Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.
• Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
• Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
• Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies. Handles physical disposal of hazardous waste in accordance with company policies.
• Operates tier lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Experience working in a Manufacturing Environment
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Understand plant safety guidelines and pass all required safety training.
• Must be able to understand verbal and written instructions.
• Troubleshoot problems and report issues.
• Must work well in a team environment.
• Excellent attention to detail.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to be on feet for up to 8-12 hours per shift.
• Use of hands and fingers to perform job function.
• Ability to stoop, kneel, bend and climb.
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
