Job summary

Atkore is seeking a Shipping Manager for our Louisville, KY plant to lead the Shipping Department and collaborate with plant leadership. You will oversee daily shipping operations, staff scheduling, and logistics coordination to meet customer deadlines.

Ideal candidates will have an Associate degree and at least five years of related experience, including supervisory roles, with strong knowledge of JD Edwards shipping modules and freight negotiations.

Qualifications

• Associate degree and at least 5 years' related experience; supervisory experience required.
• Experience managing people and coordinating shipping/receiving operations.
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Familiarity with JD Edwards shipping module.

Responsibilities

• Identify work procedures; prepare work schedules and expedite workflow.
• Examine work for exactness, neatness and conformance to policies and procedures.
• Study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency.
• Review pipe orders to determine truckload space/percentage and if a fill is needed.
• Communicate with CSR regarding fills and order status when requested.
• Coordinate product needs with the Production Department and the Plant Manager.
• Communicate with shipping personnel regarding incoming deliveries or special instructions.
• Negotiate freight rates and search for additional carriers for backup.
• Assist with inventory control process.
• Report inventory discrepancies to Inventory Control.
• Strong knowledge of JD Edwards for shipping utilization.
