Job summary

Atkore in Louisville, KY is seeking a Shipping Manager to lead the Shipping department and the Plant Management Team. You will manage a team, coordinate with Production, Customer Service, Transportation and Quality, and ensure efficient shipping operations.

You will monitor order fulfillment, optimize freight and carrier mix, maintain inventory accuracy, and use JD Edwards. Associate degree with 5 years' related experience and 3 years supervisory experience required.

Qualifications

• Associates degree and at least 5 years of shipping/logistics experience.
• Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience managing people.
• Strong time management, planning and organizational skills.
• Experience with shipping/receiving databases or software.
• Knowledge of JD Edwards shipping utilization.

Responsibilities

• Identify work procedures; prepare work schedules and expedite workflow.
• Examine work for exactness, neatness and conformance to policies and procedures.
• Study and standardize procedures to improve efficiency.
• Review pipe orders for truckload space and fill needs.
• Coordinate product needs with Production and Plant Manager.
• Negotiate freight rates and search for backup carriers.
• Assist with inventory control and report discrepancies.
• Communicate with shipping personnel regarding deliveries.
• Maintain knowledge of JD Edwards for shipping utilization.
