Job summary

Valmont Industries in Houston, TX, is seeking a Shipping/Loader Associate to perform loading of products in accordance with Valmont procedures. The role involves identifying materials, staging orders, and moving goods using forklifts, straddle trucks, and an overhead crane.

Strong safety and basic math skills are required. The position requires experience operating heavy equipment, familiarity with IFS, and the ability to work in a physical, outdoor manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform basic math: add, subtract, decimals and fractions.
• 6 months previous experience operating heavy equipment in a professional environment.
• Experience operating heavy equipment including straddle truck and shag truck.
• Knowledge of computer systems.
• Preferred: 1-year experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Preferred: 1-year experience operating an overhead crane.
• Preferred: 1-year experience operating IFS system.

Responsibilities

• Identify material being loaded/unloaded by part number, description, quantity and quality.
• Gather customer orders and stage by stop schedule on consolidation card.
• Handle workload from assembly and finishing areas.
• Use IFS system to complete transactions on finished goods.
• Stage product for loading and identify product; transport to staging area.
• Operate forklift and straddle buggies to move product to shipping bay.
• Operate overhead crane to lift/move pole product between bolsters.
• Perform general housekeeping and safety duties.
• Communicate to the next shipper to ensure proper loading.
• Other duties as assigned.
