Job summary

Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) is seeking a Shipping Supervisor in Marshalltown, IA to oversee warehousing, inventory control, and the outbound/inbound shipments on the assigned shift, ensuring timely and safe operations.

You will direct activities, manage staff, supervise equipment, analyze performance, and drive continuous improvement while maintaining health and safety standards and delivering strong customer service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• 4+ years’ experience working in a shipping department.
• Ability to work flexible hours when needed.
• Some college or manufacturing training is preferred.
• Previous supervisory experience with training, teambuilding, performance development, and conflict resolution.

Responsibilities

• Direct outbound shipments, plan loading schedules, and provide shipment status updates.
• Direct inbound shipments, inspection, unloading and storage of materials.
• Schedule work, oversee employees, approve time records, enforce company policy.
• Develop employees and make recommendations on hires, promotions and discipline.
• Maintain safe, injury-free work environment and ensure health and safety procedures are followed.
• Train on equipment, production standards, and safety/waste control.
• Supervise warehouse operations and equipment, inspect materials and prevent malfunctions.
• Analyze shipping department performance and drive process and equipment improvements.
• Investigate customer complaints related to shipping or transit damage.
• Participate in production meetings and provide timely updates.
• Manage on-hand inventory and month-end inventory.
