Job summary

ABB is seeking a local Import/Export Operations Manager in the US. You will supervise customs brokers, ensure smooth execution of trade and regulatory compliance, and manage documentation for import/export activities in a hybrid work model.

The role reports to the Project Operations Manager and requires a background in supply chain, with strong organizing and communication skills. Expect about 20% travel and work authorization to operate in the US.

Responsibilities

This position reports to:
Project Operations Manager

In this role, you will have the opportunity to be responsible for local import/export operations. Each day, you will supervise performance of customs brokers. You will also showcase your expertise by ensuring smooth execution of operational trade and customs activities within a local unit, including relevant documentation and compliance with regulations.

The work model for the role is: Hybrid {#LI-Hybrid}

This role is contributing to the Electrification Solutions business in the US.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Acting as point of contact for customs brokers in case of clarification needs (e.g., regarding valuation or classification of products).
• Auditing customs brokers regarding the correctness of customs entries, invoicing, and archiving.
• Managing the necessary documentation and online forms for the efficient, cost-effective, and lawful execution of all import/export activities.
• Maintaining and sharing with colleagues, as appropriate, personal knowledge of all relevant import/export laws and procedures, tariffs, duties, licenses, and restrictions.

Qualifications for the role

• You enjoy working with past paced, complex projects
• You have 5 years of experience in operational and logistic management
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• You are passionate about getting things right the first time
• Degree in Supply Chain and Logistics Management, preferred
• Proven experience in trade compliance and international shipping
• Ability to travel (~20%)
