Leggett & Platt is seeking a Shipping Clerk at the Genesis Seating location in Grand Rapids, MI. The Shipping Coordinator ensures timely, economical shipment of finished goods with high customer service in a fast-paced environment.

You will procure transport, negotiate rates, and coordinate with internal teams to achieve on-time, complete shipments while maintaining accurate records and safety practices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years prior experience in transportation planning and freight management in a manufacturing setting.
• Capable of problem solving to reduce errors, improve quality and delivery.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Self-starter and work efficiently under minimal supervision.
• Excellent attendance, above average computer skills, and experience with ERP systems.
• Basic math proficiency and the ability to read and write legibly.

Responsabilités

• Procure outbound transportation (truckload and LTL) to ensure on-time delivery to customers and outside warehouses.
• Use third-party logistic system to secure transportation from approved providers at agreed rates.
• Communicate with customers or customer logistics systems for Collect shipment arrangements.
• Arrange pickups and negotiate rates directly with common carriers when necessary.
• Facilitate flow of information between Shipping, Manufacturing, QA, Credit, Customer Service and Shipper/Receivers to ensure On-Time, In-Full shipment of orders.
• Verify product dimensions and weights to select shipping method.
• Check in trucks and communicate loading instructions.
• Verify accuracy of packing lists.
• Follow customer service shipping instructions, including expedited shipping.
• Maintain and file shipping-related records.
• Participate in plant safety activities to pursue Zero Incidents.
