Job summary

Leggett & Platt in Sparta, MI seeks a Production Planner to manage schedules and coordinate with Production, Purchasing, and Shipping to ensure on-time manufacturing. You will balance customer demand, capacity, and material availability to support delivery goals.

The role requires 2–5 years in production scheduling, strong organization and Excel skills, and the ability to communicate with multiple internal teams. This is a full-time on-site position at our Sparta facility.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2–5 years of experience in production scheduling, production planning, or related manufacturing roles.
• Experience working with ERP/MRP systems and production planning tools.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills; ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and standard business software; cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and communicate production schedules based on orders, capacity, inventory, and priorities.
• Coordinate with Production, Purchasing, Inventory Control, Quality, Engineering, and Shipping to ensure resources are available.
• Monitor progress and adjust schedules to meet changing requirements and constraints.
• Prioritize and sequence work orders to maximize efficiency and on-time delivery.
• Serve as the primary contact for customers regarding schedules, order status, and delivery timelines.
• Analyze workflows, capacity utilization, and data to identify bottlenecks and improve throughput.
• Maintain accurate planning data within the ERP/MRP system including work order status and priorities.
• Track schedule attainment and escalate risks to delivery dates as needed.
