Position Summary

The Shipping Clerk (Material Handler/Kitter) is responsible for receiving, storing, issuing, and accurately controlling materials used to support manufacturing operations. This position ensures production materials are properly identified, transacted in the ERP system, picked and kitted according to production requirements, and delivered to the appropriate work centers in a timely manner.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and committed to maintaining inventory accuracy while supporting daily production schedules and operational priorities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Receiving materials from Receiving Inspection and verify quantities, part numbers, descriptions, and applicable documentation prior to stocking.

  • Accurately perform all required ERP inventory transactions, including material receipts, transfers, issues, returns, and other inventory movements.

  • Stock materials in designated locations using established FIFO requirements and proper material-handling practices.

  • Pick and kit materials according to material orders (MOs) BOMs, pick list, and production schedules, ensure the correct part number, quantity, revision, and lot information are provided.

  • Stage and deliver completed kits and production materials to designated manufacturing areas in accordance with schedule priorities.

  • Review kits for shortages, discrepancies, or missing materials and communicate issues to Purchasing, Planning, Production, or direct supervisor as appropriate.

  • Maintain accurate inventory through daily cycle counts, inventory reconciliation, and investigation of inventory discrepancies.

  • Maintain traceability and proper identification of material, including lot-controlled and other controlled inventory where applicable.

  • Identify and elevate discrepancies involving quantities, locations, part numbers, documentation, or system balances.

  • Maintain an organized, clean, and safe stockroom in accordance with company procedures and 5S expectations.

  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail when handling small components and high-volume transactions.

  • Support periodic physical inventories and inventory audits.

  • Assist Shipping, Receiving, and other Materials functions as business needs require.

  • Participate in continuous improvement activities focused on inventory accuracy, material flow, efficiency, and error reduction.

  • Complete required clerical and administrative activities associated with stockroom operations, including daily, weekly, and monthly reporting.

  • Follow all applicable company policies, procedures, quality requirements, and safety standards.

  • Other duties as needed.

Qualifications
  • Must be U.S. Person due to ITAR restrictions.

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in material handling, stockroom, inventory control, kitting, production control, or a related manufacturing environment preferred.

  • Previous experience picking and kitting materials from BOMs, work orders, or production pick list preferred.

  • Experience performing cycle counts and maintaining inventory accuracy.

  • Ability to accurately count and handle very small components.

  • Basic understanding of inventory control, including FIFO and material traceability.

  • Experience using an ERP/MRP system; Infor/MAPICS experience is highly desirable.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.

  • Experience in using barcode scanners or similar inventory-control technology preferred.

  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, BOMs, part numbers, inventory documentation, and production requirements.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and understand fractions, decimals, weights, lengths, and quantities.

  • Ability to work independently while effectively supporting production and cross-functional teams.

Physical Demands:
  • Ability to lift items up to 25 lbs.

  • Frequently required to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.

Salary Range:

$44,500.00-$59,300.000

The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
