Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Setting up and processing freight shipments
• Unloading trucks
• Taking inventory of stock and completing audits
• Inspecting parts to ensure they are in new condition
• Making bales using a cardboard compactor as necessary
• Shipping parcels per SOP and packing instructions on packing tickets
• Shipping to multiple accounts each with unique shipping standards
• Preparing shipments for postal or commercial conveyance, determining most economical and efficient shipping method
• Prepare items for shipment i.e., selecting appropriate shipping container, assembling packing material, packing merchandise per instructions, and ensuring safe delivery
• Inspecting each package for correct items, broken items, missing items, and recording any problems
• Assuring orders and shipping quantities match picking documents
• Sorting, counting, packing, labeling, insuring, unpacking, and logging inventory that is shipped
• Inspecting shipments for damages
• Delivering items to requisitioning departments and obtaining authorized signatures
• May trace lost shipments and initiate proof of delivery documents
• May maintain department database, prepare routine reports, and file shipping records
• Working with management in identifying problem shipments and determining best resolution for shipment

Qualifications

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• General knowledge of warehouse/stockroom procedures is crucial
• Good basic math skills
• Ability to key in data, type, and operate a computer keyboard
• Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed but non-technical written or oral instructions a must
