Job Summary

As a Shipping Clerk, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth flow of merchandise, supplies, and equipment by coordinating and liaising with vendors and shippers. Your timely communication and organization will support our commitment to meeting customer needs and deadlines, contributing significantly to our operational success.

Primary Duties

  • Oversee and maintain the sales order flow to ensure that customer deadlines are consistently met with high satisfaction rates.

  • Efficiently manage order flow through parcel and dock areas, coordinating deliveries in a timely manner.

  • Establish and maintain communication with freight and parcel carriers, ensuring that all logistical operations meet company standards and schedules.

  • Collaborate effectively with internal Sales and Customer Service teams to facilitate seamless communication regarding shipment statuses and potential issues.

  • Maintain an accurate inventory of office and warehouse supplies, ensuring that needs are promptly met.

  • Track department performance metrics and implement strategies for improvement.

  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned, showcasing flexibility and willingness to contribute to team goals.

Qualifications

  • Release work orders through SAP to facilitate timely operations on the floor.

  • Manage workflow in both the floor and parcel areas to consistently meet customer demands.

  • Assist order pickers and material handlers, offering support and solutions to queries.

  • Data entry into performance management tools to maintain accurate records.

  • Run Access queries to extract necessary information for operational efficiency.

  • Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvement to eliminate waste through lean methodologies.

  • Proactively solve challenges to fulfill customer demands effectively.

  • Prepare and produce Bills of Lading to ensure proper documentation for shipments.

  • Order operational supplies as needed to support daily activities.

  • Support various clerical functions as required by team leaders.

  • Qualifications:

  • Computer literacy is essential, with a working knowledge of MS Word and Excel required.

  • Prior experience with SAP functions and screens is preferred.

  • Physical Requirements: Capacity to lift, pack, stack, and wrap items weighing up to 50 pounds regularly.

  • Working Conditions: The role requires standing, walking, and using hands consistently. The noise level may be moderate, and warehouse temperatures can reach up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit during the summer months.

Education / Experience

  • An Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school is preferred; alternatively, six months to one year of related experience and/or training may suffice; or a suitable combination of education and experience.
