Job summary

Responsibilities

• Manage preplanned daily shipment organization and billing.
• Coordinate paperwork from production and checkers/loaders.
• Review loading to meet customer expectations.
• Provide direction to checkers/loaders to complete daily plans.
• Create updated loads as production orders finish and maximize trailer utilization.
• Communicate with Shipping Supervisor and Production Superintendent about critical orders.
• Coordinate with carrier to update plan status during the shift.
• Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly inventories and resolve discrepancies.
• File completed paperwork and coordinate with off-site warehouse personnel.

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock

• Carry out preplanned daily shipment organization and billing.
• Compile paperwork from production and checker/loaders.
• Review loading to ensure customer expectation achieved.
• Provide direction for checker/loaders to complete daily plans.
• Create updated loads as production orders finish
• Maximize trailer utilization per load
• Communicate with Shipping Supervisor and/or Production Superintendent about critical orders for delivery.
• Communicate with carrier to update with plan status throughout the shift.
• Experience with communication with carrier switcher.
• Experience with communication with customer service and customers regarding status of shipments.
• Must be able to do daily, weekly and monthly inventories and update any discrepancies.
• File completed paperwork.
• Coordination with off-site warehouse personnel.
• And other duties as assigned.

What you need to succeed

• High school diploma or GED required
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively
• Basic math and reasoning skills

• 2+ years shipping/receiving
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate across teams and maintain organized work processes.
• Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled industrial environment with exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and other manufacturing conditions.
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role, including prolonged standing and walking, and lifting or moving materials weighing up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to do their responsibilities and cover the Supervisor responsibilities when they are out of the office
• Be able to update spreadsheets that are normally updated by the supervisor – on an as needed basis
• Able to work extended/flexible hours – when needed

The salary range for this position is $43,500.00 - $72,500.00, depending on your role, level, and location. The range listed is also the expected pay for roles in Illinois and Colorado. The benefits for this role include short-term bonus incentive, health, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and paid sick leave as required by applicable state/local law, 15 days of paid vacation, and 11 days of paid holidays, subject to annual change. Your pay will be based on factors such as your skills, experience, and education.
