Job summary

Newport News Shipbuilding, a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries, is seeking a Foreman to supervise semi-skilled and skilled trades personnel, coordinate activities, and ensure adherence to drawings and procedures. You will train staff, optimize quality and productivity, and manage processes with substantial financial impact across all shifts.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or apprentice certification or equivalent experience in manufacturing/shipbuilding/trades/military
Superior supervision and leadership potential required for coordinating skilled trades
Training and development responsibility for workforce and procedures

Responsibilities

Supervises, assigns, coordinates and evaluates semi-skilled and skilled trades personnel according to their skill, experience and job knowledge.
Supervises and trains employees to improve quality and quantity of work performed.
Recommends training to enhance skill and productivity and assists in development of training procedures.
Ensures compliance with drawings, procedures and all technical aspects of the job.
Oversees manufacturing, installation, operation, testing and process operations with significant financial impact on the company’s performance.
Monitors shifts' job and budget performance for all shifts.
