Job summary

Huntington Ingalls Industries in San Diego, CA is seeking a skilled trades professional to support the Elevator Support Unit (ESU) on Navy aircraft carriers and related systems. The role involves performing maintenance and project tasks on aircraft carriers’ elevators, cargo handling systems, and associated equipment, with travel within and outside the continental United States.

Qualified candidates will have a High School or Trade School education with at least 6 years of related experience,

Qualifications

High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 6 years of related experience.
Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty.
Must have experience performing troubleshooting, preventative maintenance and testing of mechanical systems.
Must be proficient in reading mechanical/hydraulic drawings and schematics.
Must have experience conducting on-site installation of equipment while following established safety, qualify control & testing procedures.
Must be able to calibrate and make minor repairs on tools/equipment.
Must be able to obtain and maintain base access credentials.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

Perform a variety of skilled trades, maintenance and technical tasks on aircraft carrier elevators, cargo handling systems and associated equipment.
Interface with customers, manage subcontractors and provide work direction to others.
Develop and use technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and trip reports.
Schedule, report and brief customers and senior management.
Work includes daily activities of physical labor in an industrial and shipboard environment.
