Job summary

Bowery Residents' Committee in New York is seeking a Shift Supervisor to oversee frontline staff and maintain safe, orderly shelter operations. You will ensure policy compliance, document accurately, and respond to incidents.

This full-time role requires a high school diploma, supervisory experience, First Aid/CPR, Fire Safety, and strong computer literacy. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree and shelter experience are preferred; benefits include health insurance and retirement plan.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is preferred.
• Experience in homeless shelters or similar settings is preferred.
• At least one year of supervisory or lead experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of addiction and recovery processes.
• Strong computer literacy and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Community Technicians and operations support staff.
• Oversee daily shelter operations, ensuring safety, security, and fire safety compliance.
• Ensure staff follow all agency policies, procedures, and documentation standards.
• Review and maintain accurate records, reports, and clinical notes.
• Respond to incidents and provide guidance to staff as needed.
• Participate in weekly program and leadership meetings.
• Provide emergency First Aid/CPR assistance when required.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

Full-Time | 37.5 hrs/week

What You'll Do

Schedule

• Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
• Programs operate 24/7; various morning, evening, and overnight schedules available

Who We're Looking For

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Experience working in homeless shelters or similar settings preferred
• At least one year of supervisory or lead experience preferred
• Knowledge of addiction and recovery processes
• Strong computer literacy and documentation skills
• First Aid and Fire Safety certifications required (or willingness to obtain)
• CPR certification required (or willingness to obtain)
