Job summary

Bowery Residents' Committee (BRC) in New York City seeks a Shift Supervisor to lead frontline staff, maintain shelter operations, and ensure policy and safety compliance. This full-time role covers 37.5 hours per week with varied shifts to meet 24/7 program needs.

You will oversee day-to-day operations, enforce procedures, and maintain records while coordinating with leadership on emergencies and staff development.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Experience supervising or leading staff in shelters preferred.
• First Aid and Fire Safety certifications required or willingness to obtain.
• CPR certification required or willingness to obtain.
• Strong computer literacy and documentation skills; knowledge of addiction and recovery processes.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Community Technicians and operations support staff.
• Oversee daily shelter operations, ensuring safety, security, and fire safety compliance.
• Ensure staff follow all agency policies, procedures, and documentation standards.
• Review and maintain accurate records, reports, and clinical notes.
• Respond to incidents and provide guidance to staff as needed.
• Participate in weekly program and leadership meetings.
• Provide emergency First Aid/CPR assistance when required.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

What You’ll Do

• Supervise Community Technicians and operations support staff

Schedule

• Programs operate 24/7; various morning, evening, and overnight schedules available

Who We’re Looking For

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Experience working in homeless shelters or similar settings preferred
• At least one year of supervisory or lead experience preferred
• Knowledge of addiction and recovery processes
• Strong computer literacy and documentation skills
• First Aid and Fire Safety certifications required (or willingness to obtain)
• CPR certification required (or willingness to obtain)
