Job summary

The Shift Supervisor at Westhab Inc. will supervise security staff in a 24-hour homeless shelter in NYC, ensuring safety and order while coordinating with the Security Manager.

The role requires a High School Diploma/GED, 1-2 years of supervisory experience, NYS Security Guard and Fire Guard licenses, CPI certification, and knowledge of surveillance and alarm systems.

Flexibility with shifts and shelter protocols is essential, with mandatory overtime.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1-2 years of supervisor experience required.
• Must have NYS Security Guard License and Fire Guard License F80.
• Certified in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI).
• Knowledge of security systems, video surveillance and fire detection/alarm notification systems.

Responsibilities

• Train new security officers/residential aides in all facility aspects.
• Supervise security staff per shift, assign breaks, posts and duties.
• Monitor access control and magnetometer/x-ray usage.
• Respond to incidents and manage crises to protect staff and clients.
• Make rounds to deter hazards and monitor premises.
• Respond to emergencies and guide staff.
• Conduct daily security and fire safety inspections.
• Maintain safety of clients and staff; provide crisis intervention when needed.
• Assist in fire drills; oversee property packing and logging.
