Job summary

Commercial Metals Company in Jacksonville, FL, seeks a skilled production/maintenance associate with 5+ years of mill experience to join our team. You will help ensure safe, on-schedule steel manufacture, inspect furnaces, and support melt shop operations.

This role requires proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SAP/QMOS data entry, plus the ability to read drawings. High school diploma or GED is required, with budgeting and weekend work flexibility.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of mill experience.
• Strong computer skills: Outlook, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Ability to read roll and guide drawings as necessary.
• Work may include weekends and holidays.
• Data entry in SAP/QMOS.
• Budgeting for cost reduction (SAP).
• Schedule work through work orders and/or delegation.
• Ability to work in extreme heat.

Responsibilities

• Ensure steel is manufactured to CMC specifications safely and promptly.
• Visually inspect furnace for problems (water leaks, refractory wear).
• Ensure slag foaming is appropriate.
• Adjust flux additions based on slag analysis to optimize slag chemistry.
• Coordinate with operation and maintenance staff for melt shop equipment performance.
• Communicate production issues to supervision and colleagues.
• Trouble shoot problems using knowledge and collaboration.
• Replenish and control inventory of consumables on the operations floor.
• Assist maintenance when requested.
• Fill in or assist supervisor as needed.

What You'll Do

• Work to ensure all steel is manufactured toCMCspecifications and safely in a timely manner
• Visually inspect furnace for problems (water leaks, refractory wear, etc)
• To ensure slag foaming is appropriate
• Adjust flux additions based on slag analysis to optimize slag chemistry
• Work with personnel in the operation, monitoring, and performance of all melt shop equipment (caster, furnace, cranes, ladle furnace, etc.)
• Communicate with fellow workers and supervisors about possible production issues, concerns, and needs
• Trouble shoots work related problems using job knowledge, experience, and by communicating with others (pulpit operator, process manager, maintenance personnel, etc)
• Responsible for controlling and replenishing the inventory of consumables needed on the operations floor
• Assist maintenance personnel when requested/needed
• Fill in or assist supervisor in the performing of duties when requested and needed

What You'll Need

• Minimum 5 years of Mill Experience
• Strong computer skills required (good knowledge of Outlook, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
• Ability to read roll and guide drawings as necessary
• Work which may include weekends and holidays
• Data entry in SAP /QMOS
• Ability to work with a budget for lowering cost (SAP)
• Must be able to schedule work through work orders and/or delegation
• Ability to work in extreme heat

Your Education

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is required
