Job summary

Commercial Metals Company is seeking personnel to support rolling mill operations in a steel-related manufacturing environment. You will work safely, perform routine maintenance, and help troubleshoot equipment while coordinating with the shift team to meet production goals.

Candidates should be able to multitask, lift up to 50 pounds, and work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays. Training and advancement opportunities are available within a Fortune 500 company with strong benefits.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays.
• Ability to lift to 50 pounds and climb ladders.
• Strong teamwork and dependability.
• Able to work in environments with temperature extremes, dust, and noise.

Responsibilities

• Work safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by following safety rules and wearing PPE.
• Communicate effectively about production issues and needs.
• Carry out tasks directed by operations support management safely and timely.
• Perform minor/routine maintenance or repairs as needed.
• Understand start-up, shutdown, and emergency procedures.
• Complete equipment inspection reports each shift.
• Maintain housekeeping and organization in the work area.
• Troubleshoot work-related problems using job knowledge and communication.
• Assist supervision of equipment and rolling mill activities during shifts.
• Assure a high level of organization and cleanliness in the workspace.
• Assist with product changeovers and troubleshooting of mill stands and guides.

What You'll Do

• Work safely to prevent on the job injuries by following safety rules and regulations at all times including proper wearing of company PPE
• Effectively communicate with others about possible production issues, concerns, and needs
• Ensure the tasks and activities as directed by operations support management are carried out in a safe and timely manner
• Perform minor/routine maintenance or repairs as needed without the assistance of maintenance personnel
• Understand start up, shutdown, and emergency procedures
• Ensure equipment inspection reports are filled out each shift
• Responsible for daily housekeeping duties including but not limited to immediate work area
• Troubleshoot work-related problems using job knowledge, experience, and communication with others
• Assist with the supervision of equipment and Rolling Mill activities throughout the shift
• Maintain a sustainable level of organization and cleanliness in working area
• Assist rolling mill employees with product changeover, and with troubleshooting of mill stands and guides that are in-service

• Ability to work overtime as required, including planned schedules and unplanned emergency situations
• Ability to work effectively as a team player in a fast-paced environment with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills
• Ability to work in environments with exposure to temperature extremes, chemicals, dust, fumes, mists, uneven surfaces, loud noise, elevated work areas, and confined spaces
• Ability to lift to 50 pounds, climb ladders and stairs, and stand for extended periods of time
• Demonstrated dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs
