Job description

The Shift Supervisor Trainee role is an entry-level, short-term position designed to prepare employees for higher supervisory roles such as Operations Supervisor or Shift Supervisor. Trainees perform assigned work to develop supervisory skills, complete basic management training, and learn about key aspects of the business, including building customer loyalty through exceptional service and understanding CVS/pharmacy culture.

Upon successful completion of the training program, Trainees are considered for promotion to open supervisory positions. These roles support the store management team in executing store operations and enhancing performance while fostering customer loyalty through excellent service. When no manager is onsite, the supervisor leads the staff, ensures smooth operations, and oversees opening and closing procedures.

Essential Functions:

1. Management

• Work effectively with store management and staff
• Supervise store crew by assigning, directing, and following up on activities
• Communicate effectively with management and staff

Customer Service

• Assist customers with questions, problems, and complaints
• Promote CVS’s customer service culture (greet, offer help, thank)
• Handle customer relations issues according to company policy, ensuring a positive shopping experience
• Maintain customer/patient confidentiality

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience in retail
• Deductive reasoning, analytical skills, and computer proficiency
• Excellent communication skills
• Flexible schedule, including early mornings, overnights, weekends, and overtime as needed
