GEO Corrections & Detentions is hiring for a Sergeant to oversee security and control functions during shifts, ensuring maximum facility coordination and prisoner safety. You will supervise inmates, inspect security systems, and ensure timely report submission.

The role requires at least one year of correctional experience, a high school diploma, and ability to write clear written communications. Training and CPR/First Aid certification eligibility may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent certification is required.
• Must meet correctional officer requirements and have 1 year of correctional experience.
• Ability to write communications, documents and reports clearly.
• Knowledge of correctional laws, court orders and associated safety procedures.
• Ability to follow moderately complex oral and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Supervise inmates/detainees during mealtime.
• Routinely inspect all security equipment (doors, gates, fences, lighting systems, etc.).
• Ensure shift reports are submitted as required.
• Oversee on-the-job and safety training for officers.
• Supervise perimeter inspection and test alarm systems.
• Investigate and report inmate disturbances.
• Provide prompt assistance to detainees who are injured or ill.
• Work with inmate workers, provide training and inspect their work.
• Participate in performance ratings, discipline actions, and assignments.
• Conduct regular physical facility inspections to ensure policy compliance.
