Job Description:

The 1st Shift Manager supports the General Manager in overseeing the operations and sales of a high-volume convenience store retail outlet. This role involves working with store management to provide associates with supervision and leadership on designated shifts, driving profitability, developing staff, and maintaining guest service excellence.

Responsibilities:

  1. Clean, Safe, Fast & Full
  2. Supervise and monitor adherence to safety and food safety regulations.
  3. Participate in daily store operations, including:
  • Ringing up guests at the register
  • Ensuring cleanliness and maintenance of the store
  • Stocking shelves, coolers, and inventory management
  • Physically capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and performing repetitive bending, standing, and reaching tasks with minimal breaks.
  • Guest Service:

    • Greet and interact genuinely with guests, suggesting products to enhance their experience.
    • Manage store operations during assigned shifts.
    • Maintain organized inventory.
    • Provide prompt, courteous service.
    • Foster positive relationships with coworkers and guests, communicate respectfully, and promote a team-oriented environment.
    • Address employee and guest concerns during shifts.

    People Management:

    • Lead by example, embodying RaceTrac’s Core Values and Leadership Qualities.
    • Coach, train, and develop store team members.
    • Plan and assign tasks to team members during shifts.

    Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma or GED (in progress or completed)
    • 2-3 years of work experience preferred
    • At least 1 year of management experience preferred
    • Experience in high-volume, guest-focused, transactional environments preferred
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Proactive attitude
    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks as described
    • Possibility of needing food handler and alcohol server permits, depending on local regulations
