Job summary

Rivers Co-op Markets in Saint Paul, MN seeks a Manager on Duty to oversee Clerk and Lead workflows across departments, ensuring outstanding customer service and safe, efficient operations. This role supports the Store Director, mentors staff, and maintains a welcoming, inclusive store environment during shifts, including mornings and evenings.

The MOD will rotate across Produce, Center Store, Deli, Meat, Front End and Housekeeping, with 3–4 shifts weekly and requirements for regular weekend

Qualifications

• Proven ability to provide excellent customer service and engage with staff; resolve concerns effectively.
• Supervisory experience in grocery/retail environments with coaching and performance management.
• Ability to proactively assess store needs and engage on the sales floor as needed.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing store operations and maintain professionalism under pressure.
• Clear communication to staff and leadership; resolve conflicts constructively.
• Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders to keep daily operations on track.
• Strong prioritization and time-management; delegate tasks as appropriate.
• Good problem-solving skills and decision making for quick incidents.
• Comfort with POS systems and basic computer tasks like Excel and documents.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Clerk and Lead workflows during shifts and serve as MOD in absence of leadership.
• Support Store Director with customer outcomes, safety, operations, and merchandising.
• Lead and engage team to deliver excellent customer experiences and store conditioning.
• Ensure health, safety, and staff wellbeing; maintain a welcoming environment for staff and customers.
• Coordinate across departments to align priorities and maintain smooth daily operations.
