Potbelly Sandwich Works is seeking a friendly Shift Leader to oversee daily shifts, coach associates, and uphold product quality and customer service. You will help grow sales while controlling costs, in a fast-paced restaurant setting in Des Plaines, IL.

Requirements include 1 year of supervisory experience in food service or retail, completion of Food Safety Certification, and the ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds. Competitive pay plus benefits and tips are offered.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year supervisory experience in a restaurant or retail environment.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must pass and obtain a Food Safety Certification.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable working in a bustling kitchen; knife skills a plus.
• Ability to manage allergens (peanuts, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood, shellfish).
• Able to stand/walk for 8-9 hours and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Lead team members on shifts, assigning tasks and providing feedback.
• Ensure security procedures are followed.
• Maintain back-of-house procedural standards.
• Count drawers and handle cash according to procedures.
• Prepare quality finished products (sandwiches, salads, soups, cookies, ice cream).
• Comply with health and safety standards for food, cleanliness, and safety.
• Restock food line, chips, and cooler.
• Clean tables, counters, floors, bathrooms, kitchen, and utensils; take out trash.
• Operate cash register and balance cash handling.
• Address customer complaints/issues effectively.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
