Job summary

Potbelly Sandwich Works in Wheeling, IL is seeking a Shift Leader to manage a fast-paced kitchen and front-of-house team. You will lead a shift, develop associates, ensure product quality, and drive customer service while controlling costs.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of supervisory restaurant experience, is at least 18, and will obtain a Food Safety Certification. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year supervisory experience in a restaurant or retail environment.
• Must pass and obtain a Food Safety Certification.
• You must be at least 18 years old.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Able to stand for 8–9 hours and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Illinois applicants must become food safety certified within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Lead team on shifts and delegate tasks.
• Follow cash handling procedures and balance drawers.
• Prepare finished products efficiently (sandwiches, salads, soups, etc.).
• Ensure health and safety standards are met.
• Address customer concerns and resolve issues promptly.
• Restock food line and maintain cleanliness.
• Assist with training and development of associates.
• Ensure security procedures are followed.
• Other duties as assigned.
