Job summary

Five Guys is seeking a Shift Leader in Washington, DC to lead shifts, work hands-on across cashier, grill, prep, and dining room, and ensure fast, accurate service with a strong guest experience. You will coach crew, train new teammates, and help build a positive culture in a fast-paced kitchen.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years in restaurant/retail, a team-first mindset, calm decision-making under pressure, and comfort with POS systems.

Qualifications

1–2 years of restaurant, retail, or hospitality experience (leadership preferred).
A team-first mindset with strong communicationskills.
Someone who leads by doing—not just directing.
Ability to stay cool and make decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Basic math and comfort using POS systems.

Responsibilities

Lead the shift and step in to run operations when management isn’t on site.
Jump into every position—cashier, grill, prep, fries, dining room—no task is too small.
Deliver fast, accurate service and create a great guest experience every time.
Coach, support, and motivate crew members to perform at their best.
Help train new team members and build a strong, positive culture.
Keep the restaurant clean, safe, and up to brand standards.
Manage shift tasks like breaks, cash handling, and closing reports.
