The Shift Manager (SM) is an hourly position that assists management with routine administrative and operational tasks within the restaurant. Key responsibilities include:
The human resources responsibilities are limited to crew training and ongoing coaching and feedback for hourly employees. The Shift Manager may also assume full responsibility for opening and closing the restaurant when management is unavailable, maintaining administrative control but not serving in a managerial capacity.
Maintain fast, accurate service, positive guest relations, and ensure products meet company quality standards. Conduct periodic food safety audits. Provide ongoing coaching and feedback to crew on customer service, product quality, and speed of service.
Share responsibility with the management team for cash procedures such as bank deposits, making change, opening/closing safe, and verifying drawers.
Conduct daily inventory, complete food safety audits, and set up daily control sheets. Review facility and equipment readiness. Monitor inventory, food preparation, and order fulfillment to ensure adherence to standards. Monitor speed of service and resolve bottlenecks. In the absence of management, handle food and supplies deliveries and restaurant opening and closing.
Provide ongoing coaching and feedback for crew, and hands-on training in Learning Zone.
