Job summary

Elgen Staffing is recruiting for a Shift Supervisor – Manufacturing in Reading. You will oversee production lines, ensure safe, cost-effective operations, and drive performance targets with tight labor control and effective shift handoffs.

The role requires strong technical knowledge, teamwork and communication, with 3+ years in food manufacturing. Expect weekly shifts, possible overtime, and close collaboration with Quality Assurance to uphold food safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required (or equivalent experience).
• Three years of experience in a food manufacturing environment required.
• One to three years’ related experience preferred.
• SQF, FSMA, HACCP knowledge is preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to learn quickly; strong time management and organization.
• Ability to work weekends and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead the shift, direct operations, manage labor, drive KPI performance.
• Oversee shift operations to meet safety, quality and cost targets.
• Direct production activities, labor utilization, materials and goods.
• Monitor performance and implement corrective actions for variances.
• Troubleshoot production issues to minimize downtime and preserve quality.
• Coordinate shift handoffs and cross-department communication.
• Maintain production, inventory, quality, safety and performance records.
• Plan labor, equipment, materials to meet production objectives.
• Lead continuous improvement, waste reduction, and corrective actions.
• Partner with Quality Assurance to ensure food safety and compliance.
• Monitor KPI performance and drive safety, quality and cost actions.
• Manage staffing, attendance, scheduling and time-off.
• Develop employees through onboarding, training and coaching.
