Job summary

GLIDE is seeking a Shift Lead for its Free Meals Program in San Francisco to manage the dining room, kitchen and coffeehouse during meal periods. You’ll oversee staff, ensure smooth operations, and uphold food safety standards while supporting flexible scheduling and long days as needed.

Responsibilities include directing volunteers, ensuring service quality, and maintaining sanitation, with attention to customer service and teamwork. This is a full-time position based in the Tenderloin area.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience leading a team in a community-based organization.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; leadership ability.
• Knowledge of health, sanitation laws and food safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Direct program staff and volunteers; assign duties and monitor performance.
• Oversee kitchen, dining room and coffeehouse areas for meals.
• Communicate expectations and provide feedback to ensure service quality.
• Coach for excellent customer service and problem resolution.
• Prepare meals and ensure proper portions and presentation.
• Maintain sanitation schedules and proper food storage for following day.
