Job summary

GLIDE is seeking a Free Meals Program Shift Lead to supervise meal service in the main dining room, back kitchen, and coffee house. This role requires coordinating with team members to ensure smooth operations for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, with flexibility for long days, evenings, and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities include directing staff, maintaining safety and sanitation, and ensuring excellent customer service and compliance with policy.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience leading a team in a community-based organization.
• Exceptional interpersonal and leadership abilities.
• Excellent communication under pressure and in service scenarios.
• Knowledge of health and sanitation laws; ability to enforce safety guidelines.
• Proficiency with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Direct program staff, interns, volunteers during meal service to ensure efficient operation.
• Oversee kitchen, dining room and coffeehouse operations for meals.
• Coach staff to deliver outstanding customer service and resolve issues compassionately.
• Prepare meals and ensure proper portions and presentation.
• Maintain sanitation and cleanliness of dining and kitchen areas according to schedule.
• Coordinate with DFMP Manager on personnel issues and cross-department collaboration.
• Ensure food safety compliance and proper storage of food and supplies.
