Shift Lead Position Profile

The role of the Shift Lead is to perform the duties of a Client Services Coordinator or Vet Assistant when not filling in or assisting the Practice Manager or Chief of Staff in guiding the team to maximize productivity and profitability of the hospital. This position works with the Practice Manager and/or Chief of Staff to ensure effective communication with all clients and internal stakeholders and colleagues.

Responsibilities
  • Assist and support hospital leadership in developing an efficient, productive team that provides high‑quality care and service to pets and clients.
  • Follow Banfield protocols and practices and focus the team to achieve practice priorities while building culture and brand.
  • Provide day‑to‑day supervision of the team and ensure quality medical care, exceptional client service, associate engagement, and maximum productivity.
  • Create an environment where the team delivers quality, efficient veterinary care and fosters associate engagement.
  • Provide professional and exceptional client service, lead by example, and educate clients about Optimum Wellness Plans, preventive care, pet health needs, hospital services, marketing campaigns, and related information; effectively resolve client issues.
  • Assist in scheduling associates to meet client needs, proactively plan time off and CE scheduling.
  • Ensure compliance with all practice policies and procedures and adherence to Banfield dress and grooming guidelines.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Minimum two years of veterinary hospital experience.
  • Must be available to work weekend and evening shifts.
  • Must be comfortable working in an environment with loud noise and strong smells.
  • Strong client‑service orientation and communication skills.
  • Ability to supervise and engage a team.

Pay Range

Hourly: $17.57 – $22.45, determined by experience, skill level, and education; may vary by location or applicable minimum wage laws.
