Job Summary

The Veterinary Hospital Shift Lead (“Shift Lead”) provides exceptional client and pet experiences while assisting the Practice Manager and/or Chief of Staff (COS) in guiding the team to maximize productivity and profitability of the hospital. The Shift Lead also performs the duties of a Client Services Coordinator and Veterinary Assistant when needed. The position supports the culture and brand of the hospital, ensuring effective communication with all clients, internal stakeholders, and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day supervision of the team, ensuring quality medical care, exceptional client service, associate engagement, and maximum productivity.
• Provide professional, efficient, and exceptional client service by example, including client education about Optimum Wellness Plans, preventive care, pet health needs, hospital services, marketing campaigns, and other related information; effectively resolve client issues.
• Assist in scheduling associates to meet client needs, proactively plan time off and CE scheduling.
• Ensure compliance with all practice policies and procedures and adherence to Banfield dress and grooming guidelines.
• Perform other job duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma preferred; must be 18 years of age or older.
• Minimum of two years of veterinary hospital experience.
• Ability to work at a computer for long periods; confident around pets (dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, etc.).
• Must work special hours including weekends and evening shifts.
• Strong reasoning, memory, mathematics and language ability (reading, writing, speaking English).
• Comfortable working in an environment with moderate to high noise and strong smells.
• Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and lift or carry up to 50 pounds.
• Good hand‑eye coordination, arm‑hand‑finger dexterity, and visual acuity for keyboard and equipment use.
• Exposure to veterinary patients, anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards, controlled substances, and potential bites or scratches may occur.

Pay Range

$19.42 - $24.82 Hourly. Rate determined by experience, skill level, and education, and may vary with location or applicable minimum wage laws.
