The GEO Group, Inc. is seeking a shift commander to direct all security operations on a shift, supervising staff and coordinating facility safety and detainee oversight. The role requires ensuring compliance with security and facility regulations and preparing accurate records and reports.

Responsibilities include developing policies, monitoring inspections, and guiding staff in emergency procedures while promoting a secure and compliant environment for inmates and staff alike.

Qualifications

• Minimum age of 19.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a correctional setting, with supervisory responsibilities.
• High school diploma or equivalent; related college courses are desirable.
• Must be emotionally stable, understanding and empathetic to facility objectives.
• Ability to communicate and interact with a variety of personalities.
• Knowledge of corrections laws and court orders.

Responsibilities

• Directs security activities and supervises custodial staff.
• Directs shift and ensures safety, detainee supervision and records preparation.
• Develops and implements policies and procedures for custody, security and treatment of detainees.
• Performs inspections to ensure compliance with regulations and safety standards.
• Reviews disciplinary matters involving staff and detainees.
• Oversees staffing for security supervisors and officers; trains staff on procedures.
