Job summary

Georgia-Pacific’s Wauna Mill in Clatskanie, OR seeks a Shift Area Leader to oversee mill operations, maintenance, and logistics on rotating day/night shifts. You will lead maintenance coordination, troubleshoot operations, emphasize safety, and ensure quality and productivity goals are met.

Your role requires coordinating with Mill Leadership, supervising hourly staff, and handling urgent logistics to maintain continuous 24/7 operations. This position supports a dynamic manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Experience collaborating across teams in industrial, manufacturing, or similar environments.
• Experience leading, training, mentoring, or developing hourly staff; direct supervision is not required.
• Familiarity with maintenance/operations coordination and safety leadership.
• Experience making critical operational decisions to sustain 24/7 operations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary on-shift contact, coordinating with shift leaders and teams to ensure seamless operations.
• Direct work activities to optimize machine setup, speed, and uptime to hit targets.
• Act as an incident commander for safety issues and dispatch guidance to resolve issues.
• Make critical operational decisions to improve efficiency and maintain continuous operations.
• Coordinate handoffs with hourly staff to ensure smooth transitions and continuity.
• Integrate smoothly as a salaried leader while preserving business continuity.
• Handle urgent procurement and logistics to prevent disruptions for other leaders.
• Lead on-shift teams and report safety or environmental concerns promptly.
